iPhone 6/7/8 Series:

  • Disconnect the battery and remove the screen.

Disconnect iPhone battery

  • Remove the screws from the back plate holding the top speaker flex.

  • After removing the metal plate and the top speaker, place the screen glass side down on the heat pad to heat it up. (Approximately 2-3 minutes) (CAUTION: make sure the screen is hot enough)

  • Use the spudger to remove the two sensors from the upper part.

  • Use some alcohol or electrical spray to make the remaining part of the flex on the screen less sticky, and then use a flat head to completely separate the flex from the screen.

For iPhone 8 specifically:

If you pull the cable without heating or liquid, the proximity flex cable might be damaged, usually resulting in the top speaker not working or camera failure. This is because the soldering area of the part is damaged.

What we should be doing:

Soften the glue with heat and alcohol on that area, then use a spudger to insert the bottom layer of the part and pry it up.

  • Use the spudger to remove the two sensors from the upper part.

  • Carefully grab the top solid part out from the screen.
